Hot ash starts fire which ignites shed and garages

Firefighters are warning people to dispose of ash carefully, after embers from a solid fuel fire ignited a bin and started a blaze which spread to a shed and garages.

The fire on Jowitt Close, Maltby broke out at around 3pm on Saturday afternoon.

Maltby firefighters used a hose reel the put out the blaze.

Residents are advised never to put hot ashes straight into a dustbin or wheelie bin- dispose of them safely, when cool, into a metal container instead.
