Lighter fluid explodes and blows off door

A can of lighter fluid exploded and blew off a bedroom door in Sheffield.

The blaze on Dunninc Road started at around 7.15pm on Saturday and involved an LED table lamp which caught fire, spread to furnishings and cardboard storage boxes and then ignited the canister.

Smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the house to the fire, which was quickly dealt with by Rivelin, Central and Elm Lane firefighters. Crews left just after 11pm.

Working smoke alarms help save lives by giving people an early warning of fire. They should be on every floor of the home and tested regularly.
