A man has been led to safety after a fire at his home on The Maltings in Canklow, Rotherham on Tuesday evening at 9:30pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham station responded to the call of a man trapped in a first flat.

Control room staff gave fire survival guidance to the man keeping him safe while the firefighters arrived at the scene.

The fire was in the ground floor entrance to his flat, blocking his escape route.

Firefighters quickly put the fire out and then led the man to safety.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
