Firefighters from Birley Moor, Maltby and Aston Park rescued a man after a flat fire on Saturday night (25 May).
The crews were initially called to a first floor flat on Woodland Drive, North Anston, at 6.32pm.
Breathing apparatus wearers used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire in the flat, which was well alight, and make sure that there was nobody inside.
A full search found that the occupants weren’t present – but a man with smoke inhalation did need rescuing from an adjacent flat which had become heavily smoke logged.
He was checked out by paramedics on scene but did not need to attend hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The crews from South Yorkshire were also supported by a retained crew from Worksop Fire Station in Nottinghamshire – who went into the property wearing breathing apparatus to assist with the rescue.
