Firefighters from across South Yorkshire were called to six different incidents overnight – all of which were started deliberately.
The six separate fires, which were all small in size and out in the open, were set across the Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster districts.
One of the calls came in at 9.18pm and involved 10mx10m of grassland near Blyth Road, Maltby. This was dealt with by 9.43pm by a crew from Maltby fire station.
Less than an hour later firefighters from Thorne were mobilised to a fire on Sheep Dig Lane, Dunscroft, that involved an old settee and pile of rubbish well alight. This was dealt with by 9.59pm.
