Man taken to hospital after kitchen blaze

Residents are being asked to take extra care when using oil for cooking after a man was taken to hospital following a fire.

The blaze involving a pan filled with cooking oil broke out on Jamaica Street, Sheffield at around 4pm on Thursday.

The fire was out when fire crews from Central station arrived, but some net curtains had ignited and the ceiling and wall were badly smoke damaged.

The man was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
