Overnight incidents 14/15 April

Firefighters from Penistone were called to a hay bale fire on Royd Moor Road, Thurlstone, at 7.14pm. Upon arrival they found one bale smouldering which they pulled apart to access, and extinguish, the fire. It is thought to have been started deliberately and was dealt with by 8.11pm.

Firefighters from Aston Park were called to a fire in a makeshift den in the woods near Worksop Road, Aston, at 7.30pm. The fire was inside a home made fire pit and was extinguished by the crew before it spread to the den, and the wider woods. It was dealt with by 8.07pm.

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to a fire on Park Road, Worsborough, at 8.48pm. Upon arrival they found two commercial bins well alight. This incident was dealt with by 9.23pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Barnsley were called to a fire on Smithies Lane, Barnsley, at 9.10pm. Upon arrival they found a large amount of fly tipped rubbish well alight. This is thought to have been started deliberately, and was dealt with by 9.36pm.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to a house on Ecclesfield Road,  Shiregreen, at 9.21pm. Upon arrival they found a rubbish fire, in a garden, that had been left unattended. This was extinguished by 9.43pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Doncaster were called to St Georges Road, Bessacarr, at 10.44pm. Upon arrival they found a Vauxhall Insignia well alight. This was extinguished by 11.23am and is thought to have started accidentally. The same crew were called back to the car at 0.34am – this time it is thought to have been re-ignited deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Canklow Road, Rotherham, at 11.50pm. Residents had witnessed a domestic wheelie bin being pulled into the middle of the street and set alight. This was extinguished by 0.07am. This was then followed by two other rubbish fires, both in the Canklow area, within the next half an hour.

Firefighters from Rotherham were again called to Canklow, this time Centenary Way, at 5.28am. Upon arrival they found a rubbish fire under a bridge. This was dealt with by 5.51am and is thought to have been started deliberately.
