Overnight incidents 14/15 May

Three fire engines attended a fire located in a communal bin store on Mawfa Avenue, Sheffield after a call was received at 9.54pm. Firefighters used breaking in tools to access the bin and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Some smoke had spread through the building which caused a 15-year-old girl to suffer from smoke inhalation. She was later taken to hospital by paramedics. Firefighters had left the scene by 10.20pm.

Three fire engines attended a shed fire on Brearley Drive, Sheffield after a call was received at 10.28pm. Crews found that the shed was well alight on arrival. Firefighter wearing breathing apparatus entered the nearby house to confirm that the fire had not spread within property as both side windows were damaged from the heat and flame. Once the fire was extinguished, a ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke. Crews carried out first aid to one man was burnt whilst trying to extinguish the fire using a neighbour’s garden hose. He was later treated by paramedics. Firefighters had left the scene by 11.53pm.
