Overnight incidents – 16/17 July 2025

Edlington firefighters were called at 7:17pm to fire in some woodlands on Huntington Way, Rotherham. Crews used wildfire knapsacks to extinguish the fire and left the scene at 8:11pm.

Parkway, Birley Moor, Elm Lane and Aston Park firefighters were called at 1:07am to reports of a building fire on Finchwell Road, Sheffield. On arrival crews found a large number of pallets well alight within a building. They left the scene at 3:21am. The fire is believed to have been started accidently.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called at 2:03am to a vehicle fire on Glasshouse Road, Rotherham. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. They left the scene at 2:42am. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews from Central, Rivelin, Parkway, Elm Lane and Birley Moor stations were called at 4:59am to a building fire on Exeter Drive, Sheffield. On arrival crews discovered a fire in the living room of a flat, they used one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. There were no reported injuries. Crews left the scene at 7:07am. The fire is believed to have been started by a faulty lithium ion battery.
