Five fire engines and one hazardous material unit were called to Bailey Street, Sheffield after a call was received at 5.05pm about a chemical fire in a lab. Two specialist officers entered the building to make the room where the fire was situated safe before two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the fire with a dry powder extinguisher. Four people were taken to hospital as a precaution. The incident had been dealt with by 7.13pm.
Four fire engines were called to an incident where a car had collided with a house on Halifax Road, Sheffield after a call was received at 5.50pm. On arrival, crews found that the driver was already out of the car and was receiving treatment for a small head injury. They made the vehicle safe and helped secure the house. Firefighters left the scene at 9.40pm.
Two fire engines attended a house fire on Shaldon Grove, Aston, Rotherham after a call was received at 7.13pm. The fire was located in the kitchen and involved a pan of hot oil which had ignited. The occupier had vacated the property before calling 999. A small amount of water was applied to extinguish the fire and one ventilations fan was used to to clear the smoke. The incident had been dealt with by 8.04pm.
