Overnight incidents – 17/18 May

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Hucklow Road, Sheffield, at 8.31pm. Upon arrival they found a large bonfire had grown out of control and spread to several bushes and trees. This was extinguished by 9.23pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Centenary Way, Canklow, at 8.35pm. Upon arrival they found some brambles at the side of a river involved in fire. This was dealt with by 9.05pm and is thought to have been caused by a discarded cigarette.

Firefighters from Barnsley were called to Wilthorpe Road, Redbrook, at 8.46pm. Upon arrival they found a campfire that had been built, on some scrubland, out of logs and pallets. This had been dealt with by 9.05pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Maori Avenue, Bolton-upon-Dearne, at 9.15pm. Upon arrival they found a rubbish fire. This was dealt with by 9.35pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Edlington were called to Earlesmere Avenue, Balby, at 0.38am. Upon arrival they found approximately ten domestic wheelie bins alight. This was dealt with by 1.17am and is thought to have been started deliberately.
