Overnight incidents 20/21 April

Firefighters from Doncaster were called to Sandall Beat Woodland, Armthorpe Road, Wheatley Hills, at 7.35pm. Upon arrival they found a small fire in the woods which they extinguished, before searching the area for any other seats of fire. It is thought this fire was started deliberately, with locals reporting seeing a group of young people setting various fires in the area. This was dealt with by 8.07pm.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to a fire on Deerlands Avenue, Sheffield, at 7.46pm. Upon arrival they found approximately 20m x 10m of scrubland on fire. This was dealt with by 8.17pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Adwick were called to reports of a building fire on Pickering Road, Bentley. Upon arrival they found a pile of rubbish and mattresses well alight in a car park. This was dealt with by 8.22pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Birley Moor were called to reports of a fire on Stone Lane, Sheffield, at 8.09pm. Upon arrival they found two separate seats of fire in some woods – involving trees and grassland. This was dealt with by 8.37pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Edlington were called to a fire on Broomhouse Lane, Edlington, at 9.44pm. Upon arrival they found one car fully involved in fire. This vehicle had no doors or engine. It is thought the fire was started deliberately and crews left the scene at 10.28pm.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to a fire on Popple Street, Sheffield, at 11.53pm. Upon arrival they found a fire in the back garden of a property – the glow and smoke could be seen by passing motorists. This was extinguished by the crew by 0.16am.
