Overnight incidents 28/29 January

A member of the public arrived at Barnsley station last night at 9:10pm with a kitten that had got it’s head stuck in a plastic jar.  Firefighters carefully cut the jar with wire cutters to free the kitten, who was non the worse for its ordeal.

Two fire engines from Dearne station were called to a HGV on fire on Station Road, Wath Upon Dearne, Rotherham at 9:25pm. Firefighters used two hose reels to put the fire out which had started accidentally. The crews left at 10:05pm.

Fire engines from Parkway, Central and Dearne fire stations attended a road traffic collision at 7.50am this morning. A bus had gone into a building on Handsworth Road, Sheffield. It’s thought that around 25 children were on board the bus at the time of the collision. A small number of children have suffered minor injuries, but most are unharmed.
