Firefighters from Parkway, Central and Birley Moor were called to Basegreen Road, Sheffield, at 7.29pm. Upon arrival they found a strong smell of smoke coming from the upstairs of a house. This turned out to be a small candle fire in the bathroom – caused by the candle setting fire to the wooden shelf it was on. This was dealt with by 8.05pm.

Firefighters from Central were called to White Thorns View, Sheffield, at 6.43am. Upon arrival they found a chip pan fire that had been extinguished by the occupant. This occured when the occupant fall asleep, after taking sleeping tablets, leaving the chip pan on. This was dealt with by 7.33am.
