Weekend incidents – 15/16/17 January

Friday 15 January

Firefighters from Lowedges were called to Whitelow Lane, Sheffield, at 6.07pm. Upon arrival they found a Toyota RAV4 well alight. This was dealt with by 6.42pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Central, Parkway and Elm Lane were called to a flat on Boston Street, Sheffield, at 6.28pm. Upon arrival they found an oil pan on fire. This had been smothered by the occupier, with a wet teatowel, but kept reigniting. This was dealt with by 7pm.

Saturday 16 January

Firefighters from Parkway were called to Spinkhill Road, Sheffield, at 5.1oam. Upon arrival they found a Seat Ibiza well alight. This was dealt with by 7.26am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Birley Moor were called to Sevenairs Road, Sheffield, at 7.28pm. Upon arrival they found a Ford Transit van well alight. This was dealt with by 8.18p and was started deliberately.

Firefighters from Maltby, Aston Park and Parkway were called to Egerton Road, Swallownest, at 7.32pm. Upon arrival they found a fire that was out on arrival. This had started when fat deposits in an oven were set alight by the grill. Crews cleared the smoke, using a positive pressure ventilation fan, and left the scene at 7.58pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to New Wortley Road, Masbrough, at 9.07pm. Upon arrival they found an abandoned Vauxhall Vectra well alight. This was dealt with by 9.38pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Thorne were called to Wike Gate Road, Thorne, at 9.26pm. Upon arrival they found a car well alight on the side of the road. This was dealt with by 10pm and was started deliberately.
