Two fire engines are parked up on an area of farm land, on a hill. The weather is dull and it appears to be in the late evening. Two firefighters can be seen in the distance, walking between the two fire engines.

Weekend incidents – 17/18/19 September

Friday 17 September

Firefighters from Central were called to Blackwell Place, Sheffield, at 10.46pm. Upon arrival they found a black VW Beetle well alight. This was dealt with by 11.13pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Walnut Place, Sheffield, at 11.42pm. Upon arrival they found a skip, which was full of wood and packaging, well alight outside a house. As the skip was close to the porch of the property, the fire caused substantial flame damage to the front door, glass and guttering. This was dealt with by 0.25am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 18 September

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Glasshouse Road, Kilnhurst, at 12.35pm. Upon arrival they found a 4×4 vehicle well alight behind a wall. this was dealt with by 1.22pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Birley Moor, Lowedges and Central were called to a take-away restaurant on Mansfield Road, Sheffield, at 4.14pm. Upon arrival they found yellow smoke coming from the main door and, when inside, discovered that the main grill had caught fire – with the blaze starting to spread through the extraction system. Crews extinguished the fire and ensured it hadn’t spread to any adjoining flats, and that nobody was hurt, before leaving the scene at around 5.51pm.

Firefighters from Central were called to Manor Lane, Sheffield, at 7.06pm. Upon arrival they found a compost heap on fire to the rear of the Manor Castle pub. This was dealt with by 8.56pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Elm Lane, Central and Rivelin were called to Launce Road, Sheffield, at 10.49pm. Upon arrival they found a significant fire in the living room of a first floor flat. This was dealt with by 0.40am and nobody was injured. The cause is believed to be faulty electrics.

Sunday 19 September

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Doles Crescent, Royston, at 2am. Upon arrival they found a car well alight on a driveway. This was dealt with by 2.59am and is thought to have been started deliberately.
