Weekend incidents 17/19 November 2023

Friday

One crew from Central attended a motorcycle fire on Woodside Lane, Pitsmoor, Sheffield after a call was received at 5.04pm. One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire which is believed to have been set deliberately. Crews came away from the incident at 5.27pm.

One crew from Rivelin attended a fire at Freedom Court, Sheffield after a call was received at 6.16pm. The fire was located in a bin store which caused the lobby to become heavily smoke logged. A bin was removed from the store and extinguished using buckets of water and water backpacks. A ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke. The incident had been dealt with by 7pm.

Three fire engines attended attended a fire in an industrial building on Coggin Mill Way, Templeborough, Rotherham after a call was received at 6.40pm. The fire was caused by a forklift truck battery that had possibly developed a fault leading to ignition. The fire then spread to a number of tyres within the car garage area. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the fire and used a ventilation fan to clear the smoke. The incident had been dealt with by 8.06pm.

One fire engine attended a fire in a bin store near Queen Mary Rise, Sheffield after a call was received shortly after 9pm. Three bins were involved in the fire which had begun to spread to the felt and timber of the structure. One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire and the incident had been dealt with by 9.29pm.

Saturday

One fire engine attended a house fire on Symons Crescent, Sheffield after a call was received at 12.15pm. The fire was caused by a tumble dryer and was extinguished using a hose reel. No one was injured. The incident had been dealt with by 12.28pm.

Four fire engines attended an incident where a man had fallen into a stream near Newbould Crescent, Sheffield after a call was received at 3.41pm. Crews rescued him from the water and he was taken to hospital by paramedics. Crews had left the scene by 4.25pm.

Two fire engines and an aerial appliance were called at 4.51pm to rescue a man who was stranded on the roof of 60m water tower due to a broken roof hatch. The water tower was located on Church Lane, Cantley, Doncaster. Crews gained access via the internal stairwell and then used a ladder to reach the man who then able to be led down the ladder by the crews and down the stairwell to safety. Firefighters had left the scene by 5.41pm.

One fire engine attended a car fire which was located near The Park, Woodlands, Doncaster after a call was received at 4.52pm. One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire and the incident had been dealt with by 5.42pm. The fire is believed to have been set deliberately.

Sunday

Two crews from Central attended a fire in a three storey building on Exeter Drive, Sheffield after a call was received at 4.30am. The fire was located in an industrial bin and a mattress on the top floor of the stairwell. A hose reel was used to extinguish both and crews had dealt with the incident by 5am.
