Weekend incidents 19 / 21 June

In Barnsley at 10:30pm on Friday night, crews from Barnsley, Cudworth and Dearne attended a fire on Barnsley Road, Wombwell. On arrival, firefighters found that a small fire had been caused by radiated heat from a gas hob burner onto a stainless steel splash back on the wall behind the hob. The stainless piece was found to be mounted onto a piece of MDF wood and it was this wood that had caught fire. It is deemed to have started accidentally and crews left at 11:02pm.

At 00:28am on Saturday, one crew from Dearne attended a small vehicle fire on Woodland View in Mexborough. This was a Ford Transit van believed to have been set alight deliberately. The Dearne crew left at 01:00am.

At 03:34am still on Saturday morning, crews were called to an incident on Shortbrook Way in Sheffield. Firefighters from Birley Moor attended. A VW Golf was well alight, believed to have been started deliberately. Crews left at 04:13am.

On to Sunday, Doncaster and Thorne firefighters were called to a chip pan fire at 10:48am on The Lings in Armthorpe. The chip pan had been left on the cooker top and the fire had spread to the extractor fan and into ceiling of kitchen. Firefighters left the scene at 12:40pm.

At 1:01pm Sunday afternoon, a Cudworth crew attended a van fire on West Green Way in Monk Bretton. This was a Renault Megane involved that was believed to have been set alight deliberately. Crews left at 1:49pm.
