Weekend incidents – 31/1/2 August

Friday 31 July

Firefighters from Rivelin and Central were called to Endcliffe Grove Avenue, Sheffield, at 7.43pm. Upon arrival they found a bonfire had spread to the roof of a house. This was dealt with quickly by crews who were able to limit the damage and stop the fire spreading further. The fire was dealt with by 8.56pm.

Saturday 1 August

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Yews Lane, Kendray, at 1.01am. Upon arrival they found a Land Rover Freelander well alight, with some fire damage to two other neighbouring vehicles. This was dealt with by 1.48am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Tankersley, Elm Lane and Rivelin were called to Remington Road, Sheffield, 12.31pm. Upon arrival they found two wheelie bins on fire to the rear of a property. This was dealt with by 1.22pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rivelin and Central were called to The Glen, Broomgrove, Sheffield, at 7.23pm. Upon arrival they found a smoke logged flat and several occupants suffering from smoke inhalation. This was due to a pan being left on a hob, setting on fire and spreading to the kitchen cupboards. This was dealt with by 6.23pm.

Sunday 2 August

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Doncaster Road, Ardsley, at 3.03am. Upon arrival they found a fire alight, hung on a speed camera. This was dealt with by 3.23am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Central and Rivelin were called to the Mappin Building, Sheffield, at 3.48am. Upon arrival they found a fire in an electrical cupboard. It is thought a kettle had been left plugged in, developed a fault and set alight. This was dealt with by 4.31am.

Firefighters from Parkway were called to Fenton Road, Kimberworth Park, at 12.38pm. Upon arrival they found hay bale had been rolled to the side of a field, under a tree, and set alight. This was dealt with by 1.35pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to Robin Hood Avenue, Royston, at 5.23pm. Upon arrival they found multiple sheds well alight on an allotment. This was dealt with by 11pm and it is not yet known how the fire was started.
