Cooking oil overheated in the kitchen of a restaurant on Station Road in Conisbrough. The fire spread to a store room above the kitchen via an extractor fan. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze and used large fans to ventilate the premises. Rotherham, Edlington and Doncaster firefighters tackled the incident at around 9pm on Friday, leaving just before midnight.
Central and Rivelin firefighters tackled a kitchen fire on Glossop Road in Sheffield around 9.20pm on Saturday. Some cooking had been left unattended. A man and a woman in their 20s went to hospital with minor injuries.
A deep fat fryer caught fire at a takeaway on Green Lane, Rawmarsh shortly before 11pm on Friday. Rotherham, Elm Lane and Maltby firefighters attended the incident. The takeaway owners went to hospital for a precautionary check. Firefighters were on the scene for around 90 minutes.
A wheelie bin set alight on Deer Lands Road in Sheffield at around 11pm on Friday spread to the entrance of a community centre. It’s thought the fire was started deliberately. Rivelin and Central firefighters were there for around an hour and a half.
