Weekend incidents – 9/10/11 December

Friday 9 December

Firefighters from Aston Park were called to Long Lane, Treeton, at 10.19pm. Upon arrival they found a quad bike fully involved in fire. This was dealt with by 11.20pm and is thought to have started accidentally.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Low Stubbin, Rotherham, at 11.16pm. Upon arrival they found a Black Saab well alight in a field. This was dealt with by 11.16pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Saturday 10 December

Firefighters from Barnsley, Cudworth and Tankersley were called to Wilthorpe Avenue, Barnsley, at 0.02am. Upon arrival they found a fire in the living room of a property. This was dealt with by 2.20am and is thought to have been started deliberately. Nobody was injured in the fire.

Firefighters from Dearne were called to Chapel Lane, Thurnscoe, at 2.14am. Upon arrival they found an Audi A3 well alight. This was dealt with by 3.05am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Tankersley, Rivelin and Parkway were called to Fir Tree, Thurgoland, at 6.40pm. Upon arrival they found a fully developed chimney fire at a property. This was dealt with, in part thanks to the service’s turntable ladder, by 7.51pm. Nobody was harmed during the incident.

Firefighters from Thorne, Adwick and Doncaster were called to Low Lane, Braithwaite, at 8.23pm. Upon arrival they found a HGV, which had crashed through a bridge and landed on its side in a stream, on fire. The blaze was extinguished quickly before specially trained firefighters entered the water and conducted a search to ensure nobody was trapped. This was dealt with by 9.59pm.

Sunday 11 December 

Firefighters from Thorne were called to Brierholme Close, Hatfield, at 2.59am. Upon arrival they found a small fire in a property that involved a pile of logs. The logs were sat next to a log burner when heat from the burner set them alight. This was dealt with by 3.36am.

Firefighters from Central were called to East Bank Road, Sheffield, at 4.04pm. Upon arrival they found a car well alight. This was dealt with by 4.29pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.
