A woman has sadly died after a fire in Thurnscoe today, Sunday 26 December.

Firefighters were called to Landsdowne Close at 9.20am, following reports of a premise fire.

Upon arrival they found a fully developed bedroom fire, with a woman though to be trapped inside.

Despite the best efforts of crews, to extinguish the fire and rescue the casualty, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire and police investigators are currently working to establish the cause of the fire – but it is not thought to be suspicious.
