Workmen accidentally set fire to roof

Three fire crews were called to a house at Spotswood Mount in Sheffield at 10:50am this morning, after the cavity wall insulation caught fire.  Workmen had been using a blow torch to fit a new flat roof and it is believed this sparked the fire.

Fire crews from Mansfield Road, Central and Mosborough fire stations attended the incident.  One lady was inside the property at the time but was not injured.

Firefighters used hose reels to put the fire out.

Crews left the scene at 12:30pm.
