Parked cars block access to rubbish blaze

Firefighters attended a large fire involving settees, carpets and other household rubbish at flats in Sheffield on Sunday night.

Two fire engines from Central station tackled the blaze outside Castle Court flats in Park Hill at around 00.40am.

The fire spread to a bin store and heat from the blaze cracked window frames on three storeys of nearby flats.

Firefighters are reminding residents to park vehicles responsibly to allow emergency vehicles to get through.

Vehicles parked on both sides of the road made it difficult for fire crews to gain access to the site.

It is thought the fire was started deliberately. Anyone with information about people starting deliberate fires should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
