Our Fire Cadets scheme is now closed for recruitment and will reopen in May 2026. 

The Fire Cadet scheme is for young people in academic years 9 to 11 and is designed to encourage growth in confidence, self-esteem, practical and theoretical skills.

The scheme is run at seven fire stations across South Yorkshire: Elm Lane, Birley Moor, Rotherham, Dearne, Edlington, Cudworth and soon Stocksbridge.

Although the scheme ends at 18 there are opportunities to continue as a Volunteer Instructor which builds on individual’s leadership and management skills.
