Fire Cadets scheme

The Fire Cadet scheme is for young people aged 13-18 years old and is designed to encourage growth in confidence, self-esteem, practical and theoretical skills.

The scheme is run at seven fire stations across South Yorkshire: Stocksbridge, Elm Lane, Birley Moor, Rotherham, Dearne, Edlington and Cudworth.

However, please note, our cadet groups are currently full. The only bases with vacancies are Stocksbridge and Dearne.

While a Fire Cadet, the young people are enrolled on to a BTEC in Teamwork and Personal skill (13-15 Level 1 & 16-18 Level 2).

Although the scheme ends at 18 there are opportunities to continue as a Volunteer Instructor which builds on individual’s leadership and management skills.

To register your interest in the Fire Cadet scheme, please complete our cadet interest form.
