Don’t cook drunk plea after incident in Doncaster

Firefighters are once again issuing a don’t cook drunk plea after crews from Maltby and Edlington were called to a suspected fire in Tickhill this morning (Thursday 14 March).

After being called at 0.14am, to a property on Doncaster Road, firefighters arrived to find a smoke alarm sounding but no visible signs of smoke.

They used a ladder to gain entry through a window and, when inside, found burnt cooking on a hob an the occupier asleep on the sofa.

There was limited damage to the flat and first aid was not required for the occupier – but officers say had the smoke alarm not sounded, alerting the neighbours, this could have been much worse.

The incident was dealt with by 0.44am.
