An older man has sadly died following a house fire in Sheffield.

Firefighters were called to the incident on New Cross Drive at around 5.30am on Friday (15 March).

Firefighters from Parkway, Birley Moor and Aston Park stations extinguished the fire, which it is thought had started in a ground floor room adjacent to the kitchen.

The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
