Flat fire started deliberately

A man suffered burns and smoke inhalation after a fire at his flat in Greasborough on Saturday evening.

It is believed the man in his 50s was rescued by a member of the public and received medical treatment before being taken to hospital.

Fire crews were called to the ground floor flat on Wagon Road just after 8.30pm. They found an extensive fire which had started in the bedroom.

They worked quickly to stop the fire from spreading to adjoining flats, whilst carrying out a search to ensure nobody else was affected by smoke inhalation.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately.
