Firefighters have put out a fire at a large industrial unit in Ecclesfield in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Residents in the area may have heard some explosions towards the end of the incident, at around 10.00am. We reassure people that this was an expected part of firefighting operations which helped bring the incident to a close.
Fire crews were called to the site, on the Yarra Industrial Estate on Station Road, just after 4.00am. They found a large building, around 200 x 60m, containing units including a car repair workshop and waste management facilities, well alight.
At the height of the fire, seven fire appliances an an aerial platform were in attendance. By 10.30am, fire crews were cooling off and damping down at the scene.
An investigation into the cause is under way and will continue over the weekend.
