A man has sadly died following a fire at his home on Newfield Avenue, Monk Bretton, Barnsley.

Three fire crews from Cudworth and Barnsley stations were called to the bungalow at 5:30pm on Thursday 5 May. The elderly man had unfortunately already died before crews were able to rescue him.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

The fire investigation has now completed and the cause of the fire was accidental.
