A person has sadly died following a fire at a flat on Handsworth Road in Sheffield.

Three fire engines from Parkway,  Birley Moor and Central stations were called to the incident just after 11.30am on Saturday morning.

Firefighters entered the property and found the person inside, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our thoughts and condolences go to their family and friends.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.
