Four fire crews were called out to reports of a lorry on fire at Higham Lane in Higham, Barnsley just after midnight.

Firefighters from Cudworth, Mansfield Road, Barnsley and Tankersley stations were quickly at the scene.

The fire which had started at the lorry had spread to a trailer and a car. Due to a number of small explosions, three houses near by were evacuated as a precaution.

No one was injured in the incident.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.
