Pan left on cooker sparks house fire

A man has suffered smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire at his home on Farrer Street in Barnsley.

Fire crews from Barnsley, Cudworth and Tankersley stations were called to the mid-terrace house at 9pm on Monday night.

The man, believed to be in his 30’s, had left a pan on the cooker which had caught fire.  Luckily he had working smoke alarms which alerted him to the fire, so he was able get out.

Firefighters used hose reels to bring the fire under control.

The man went to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Fire crews left the scene at 9:45pm.
