Smoke alarms helped a woman to escape a fire safely after her cooker caught fire.

The blaze broke out on Corporation Street, Barnsley at around 10am on Sunday (13 March).

The fire was caused by an electrical fault with the cooker and was quickly extinguished by Cudworth and Tankersley firefighters.

The occupant escaped unharmed.
