Woman and dog rescued from house fire in Rotherham

Fire crews rescued a woman from a fire at a farmhouse in Rotherham this morning.

Firefighters were called to the property at Long Lane, Treeton at 03:20am and used a ladder to get the woman, aged in her thirties, to safety from the first floor.

Two other residents were already safely outside the residence when crews arrived.

Around 15 firefighters from Rotherham and Aston Park stations tackled the blaze and used breathing apparatus to enter the smoke filled house and rescue a dog after all persons were accounted for.

The fire is thought to have started within the kitchen and the cause is currently under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental.
