Firefighters attended incidents in Stocksbridge and Deepcar within an hour of each other on Saturday morning.

They were called to Ridal Avenue, Stocksbridge, just before 4.30am, where a car on the drive was on fire. The occupants of the house were evacuated at a precaution due to the car being close to the property, but no one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Shortly afterwards, firefighters attended the Jet petrol station, on Manchester Road, Deepcar, where an electrical fault has caused a fridge in the shop to catch fire. Fire crews disconnected the fridge from the mains, carried it outside, and ventilated the shop.
