We offer home safety visits to people who are considered to be at particular risk of fire.
During these visits, firefighters or community safety staff will visit your home to give you advice on how to make it safer and what to do in the event of a fire.
How do I book a home fire safety check?

At the end of this check, you will be provided with safety advice relevant to you. Then, if you are eligible for a visit, you will be asked to submit your contact details.
We will then contact you to arrange your in-person visit.

Who is eligible for a home fire safety check?
Anyone is eligible for our online home safety check. For an in-person visit, you must be a South Yorkshire resident that is deemed to be at an increased risk of fire. This may be due to your physical or mental health, home environment or daily activities such as smoking.
What if I am not eligible?
If you’re not eligible for an in-person visit, this is because we don’t feel you are at an increased risk of fire. You will still receive personalised safety advice at the end of the online check, though.

The online check doesn’t work or I can’t fill it in – what do I do?
Call us on 0114 253 2314 and one of our community safety team will assist you in booking a home fire safety visit, if you are eligible.
You can also contact us to request a check via our hard of hearing text line – by texting ‘HOH’ along with your name and address to 07537 416095.
